Being an African American driving becomes an issue. This is seen across the highways in American nations whereby the African Americans are being mistreated, harassed and put in police cars where there are police dogs and threatened if anyone tries to escape. An instance of the above case is where the Blacks are mistreated it happened in 1998 August where a 37 year old Black man and his son were caught by a nightmare on the highways of America they found out that they could barely travel for more than thirty minutes without being stopped twice by a police patrolling the highways (Davis, 2001). Second they were stopped by the troopers who terrorized them and in this case they were locked in a police car where there were police dogs and it is here where they were threatened that in case they tried to escape the dogs would be released to them. The police officers had at that point shut all the video cameras in the car and therefore there was no any evidence that the Black man and his son were terrorized. (Davis, 2001) The Black man was named Gerald and he understood the history of oppression of Africans that existed in America and hence feared of being victimized. Basically, the problem of African driving was being terrorized and mistreatment also the incarceration that existed was slavery where the Africans were put into custody to work for the Whites.

Reasons why Consumers Adopt Environmentally Friendly Products
Intrinsic motivations appear to be the reason why conservation and environmentally minded consumers adopt eco-friendlier products (Bamberg 2003). For example, intrinsically driven consumers buy hybrid cars to reduce the effects of their driving on the environment. However, there is another stream of literature utilizing other research methods that have found that pro-environmental products are often not purchased because of pro-environmental motives (Barr, 2004). In fact, in a wide-ranging study that employed dissimulated surveys on a range of products, Bamberg (2003) reported only a low to mitigate association between consumersââ¬â¢ concern about the environment and adoption of consumption deportment that was considered to be environmentally cordial. If this is the case, is it possible that there are other reasons behind adopting ââ¬Ëgreenerââ¬â¢ products? It is withal possible that extrinsic rewards may be a more salient reason for some consumers to adopt environmentally cordial products (e.g. Jansson, Marrell Nordlund 2009; Stern 2000, Clark, Kotchen Moore 2003). This is not to verbally express that these consumers do not possess intrinsic motivations, but that extrinsic reasons appear to play a more puissant role in their decision making process. Griskevicius, Tybur Van den Bergh (2010) conducted a series of experiments and found that many of the consumersââ¬â¢ in their sample culled environmental cordial products because of convivial or professional status concerns. Inspiring Memories free essay sample
ââ¬Å"Youre a good girl,â⬠Dorothy said earnestly, her words slurred. I placed the full spoon back in her bowl. Her watery blue eyes, partially hidden by wrinkles, looked straight at me. She cleared her throat. ââ¬Å"Youre a good girl. Thank you,â⬠she said. I wiped her nose, whispered a thank you, and refilled the spoon with chicken-à flavored mush. It was dinnertime in the Reminiscence wing of Sunrise Assisted Living, and the clang and clatter of utensils dominated the scattered voices. This was where the residents with Alzheimers lived. Occasionally, Gretchen would break out laughing or crying at her table of four. At the largest table, Janie, who was missing part of her arm, kept asking when her sister was coming to take her home. Mitsi would forget she was eating dinner and get up, insisting that she had something important to do. These grandparents, though not my own, changed my view of life immensely. We will write a custom essay sample on Inspiring Memories or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page Having spoonfed a woman six decades older than me, I cant help but notice the parallels between Dorothy and my baby cousin Caleb. Both need help to eat. Neither can walk unassisted. Essentially, Dorothy and Caleb are almost completely helpless without someone to care for them. This dependence must be humiliating for an adult with so many experiences. Despite these similarities, it seems that grandchildren garner far more attention and love than grandparents. While babies are considered cute for their antics, it scares many to find that their grandparents have become like children. Consequently, many families avoid visiting their elderly, claiming, ââ¬Å"Hell forget I was there 10 minutes after I leave.â⬠This may be true, but according to a study published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, the emotions triggered by an experience remain even after the memory is gone. Fifteen minutes after watching clips of tearjerker films, subjects (who suffered from dimentia) were asked about the movies. They responded that they felt sad, even though they didnt remember why; the experimenter concluded that even if a patient forgot his daughter had visited, his happiness would remain for the rest of the day. My grandfather, who lives in a nursing home in Taiwan, has Alzheimers too. Since Ive met him only a few times, I dont know what he likes, where he has lived, or how he met my grandmother. But knowing Dorothy, Joe, Gretchen, and Mitsi, I feel closer to him because I know how he must feel. Like these women, he is becoming less and less independent. This must be such a scary experience ââ¬â to know that youre losing your mind and body but are unable to do anything about it. Some residents who are starting to slip into a severe stage of Alzheimers seem to be holding onto something. Mitsi worries incessantly that shes missing an important meeting. Jo always wants to go to her room to switch purses. Janie constantly asks when her sister is taking her home. Its as if they are refusing to let the disease steal everything. When I think about it, I would be scared to death if I was diagnosed with Alzheimers and admitted to an assisted-living home, knowing that my disease would progress to the degree that I might not be able to control my emotions. Despite this, these women remain determined to fight, clinging to their scant memories, which reflects the strength and love they have for life and their families. Similarly, Ill continue to support them by gaining all the knowledge and skills I can to help. My experience with these elderly residents has shown me how blessed I am. Though Im not old and forgetful, Ive learned to appreciate the freedom of life unhindered by faulty memory or neurological disorders. Ive decided to take full advantage of these blessings ââ¬â youth, education, and a loving family ââ¬â so that I can help others. These ââ¬Å"othersâ⬠are definitely not limited to grandparents with Alzheimers; rather, I want to help those suffering from neurological disorders or accidents live their lives with as much freedom as possible. I hope that studying health sciences in college will help me find ways to improve these grandparents memory or stall the progression of Alzheià mers. Whether I end up doing medical research or working in a clinic, I want to help our grandparents, who deserve our love and respect. The next time I go to Taiwan, I want to visit my grandfather, and even though he may not recognize me, Ill leave him smiling for the rest of the day, wondering why he is so happy.
